“Habibie & Ainun” An Inspiration Through The Big Screen
The movie Habibie and Ainun is about the journey of love which starts during their teenage years till now, from Indonesia to Germany and right up to when Ainun closes her eyes on the arms of her soul mate. This film is taken from Habibie's auto biography and produced by MD Picture under Manoj Punjabi. It wasn't easy deciding who would play the main characters in this film directed by Faozan Rizal. After a long process of casting, Reza Rahadian is chosen to play Habibie and Bunga Cinta Lestari plays Ainun. The shooting scheduled for July 2012 was opened with a thanksgiving and press conference which was held on sunday 15th July 2012 at the MD office Tanah Abang Jakarta. Manoj Punjabi and Dhamoo Punjabi as the hosts were both there along with supporting actors and Prof.DR-Ing H Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie himself. The shooting of this film, 118 minutes long, is scheduled to start 17th July 2012 in two countries, Indonesia and German. Although this film is a romantic one, Habibie doesn't want any kissing scenes in this film. " Romance doesn't mean a kiss. It can be expressed through meaningful words" said Habibie. Even his nephew Adri Subono confirmed that he has never kissed infront of him.
Maybe not many people know of his summa cum laude predicate from one of the best IT universities in Aachen, Germany where the story of true love is brought across 2 continents. The story of a husband who is willing to work day and night, walking a distance of miles in thick snow in the winter for the sake of his wife and children. The story of a genius who preferred to be devoted to his own country rather than choose abundance of material and work in another country.
The story of a young man who promised his life partner that he would build her a plane. Habibie did all this out of love because Ainun was his life, his energy. She was his light in the dark. Ainun always inspired Habibie with attention and patience.
